My Career Goals

Hello everyone!

It’s been nine weeks now and so the perfect time to think about my career goals after this internship.

Because dreams don't come true, goals do!!

Not only in career but in almost every aspect, the ‘decision making’ plays the most pivotal role. But obviously, it ain’t easy to decide your career path without being affected by your environment or the ‘views’ of society.

From the very beginning, I was kind of interested in tech, so I chose Computer Science and Engineering as my graduation. But I ended up choosing a different field right after graduation. As I was not completely into it, it didn’t work well for me. But that’s okay, because of all that I was able to introspect myself and came to realize what my true passion is. That’s how I decided to make a comeback. So I gave it my all and was able to jump higher than I could have ever imagined.

So here I am starting my new life with Outreachy.

But what after Outreachy??

I didn’t come this far, only to come this far! So obviously I will be looking for a full-time software engineering job opportunity after this internship.

During this internship, I am working on Apache Qpid Proton, a suite of messaging clients in various languages, including C++. Messaging is commonly used in big distributed systems, where it is useful to trace operations across distinct system components.
Qpid already has tracing for Java, JavaScript, and Python, but not yet for C++. And that’s what I am working on, to implement distributed tracing for Qpid Proton C++. Skills preferred for my project were C++ and network programming.

I am proficient in Python, plus this internship has furnished my C++ skills as well and I have also learned many other things including tracing, about build systems, common software development procedures, and how to better collaborate in open source communities.

Along with this I endup making some amazing mentors during my internship, I will continue contributing to open-source and will keep moving forward with a positive mindset.

Wish me good luck!

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
